Why is sunscreen so important?

Before I was invited to try out NIVEA's new range of sunscreen, I was extra skeptical about using sun screen on myself. Like how damaging can the sun be? Isn't it good to be basking under the sunlight and absorb some Vitamin D once in a while? Especially when you just got out of an extra cold air conditioned room, and then you hit the sunlight.... Gyahhhh that comfortable, and warm feeling... Feels as if you're being hugged by the sun, getting all warmth up after a long day of work in your office.

True that I know sun rays can cause skin cancer and whatnot if you are not careful, but I didn't know there were much more science into it than just causing skin cancer.

The UVA produced by sun rays can also caused pre-mature aging, dehydrating and uneven dark spots on your skin if it is exposed to the sun for too long. Reason why people get tanned is because your body automatically produce more melanin(Same pigment that is responsible for your skin color) to protect you when you are exposed to the sun. Well, you can say that your skin is giving you a heads up, telling you that dude I am getting burnt, now cover me up.

So we did a test @ their UV test station, where you apply a bit of NIVEA's sun block and you compare with your skin without any sunblock!

Well, I thought I was safe since my make-up has a base SPF of 45++ .... But nooooo, it wasn't enough. Just look at the difference between NIVEA's sunscreen, and my personal CC cream.

Don't be too happy when you see yourself being fair on the UV camera. The darker you appeared on the UV camera, means the more coverage you have.

Yes, surprise! people.

I was equally surprised as well. I kind of feel like I got cheated... How is it possible that 45++ SPF foundation could feel so light on our skin? Then again, if you think about it, our foundation are designed to be light with as much coverage as possible. So how would a 45++ SPF foundation work, if you're only applying a thin layer of it? Now that explains the wrinkles on my forehead....

NIVEA has introduced 2 different types of sunscreen this time, with a more improved formula to help step up your game against the sun. Crazy global warming, yes we need dem sunscreen to reflect away these UVA.
